Water Safety Survival Instructor Current Billet: Company Gunnery Sergeant Military Biography David went to basic training in San Diego, California in March of 1986. His first assignment was as rifleman in Company K, 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines, 1st Marine Division. In June of 1989 Corporal Savage departed that battalion before it was decommissioned, and was transferred to Marine Corps Security Forces Battalion Mare Island, Vallejo, California for security forces training.
Corporal Savage was assigned to Marine Barracks, Ground Defense/Security Forces, Subic Bay, Republic of the Philippines as a Guard NCO in December of 1989. Sergeant Savage was transferred back to the United States in June of 1991, just prior to the closing of Subic Bay, to a United States Navy Support Base to attend a training school at Headquarters and Service Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California.
In March of 1992, Sergeant Savage was assigned as a Platoon Sergeant to Company F, 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune North Carolina. Prior to final separation from the Marine Corp, Sergeant Savage was transferred in January 1994 to Company I, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, also located at Camp Lejeune. Sergeant Savage re-enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve, in June of 1994 and was transferred to Company E, 2nd Battalion, 24th Marines, 4th Marine Division located in Des Moines, Iowa where he is continues to actively drill as a Staff Non-Commissioned Officer. |
